Athletic Director-Mrs. Werner

Swain School Athletic Program

Young people learn a great deal from their participation in interscholastic athletics. Lessons in sportsmanship, teamwork, competition, and how to win and lose gracefully are an integral part of our athletic program. Athletics also plays an important role in helping the individual student develop a healthy, self- concept as well as a healthy body. The interscholastic athletic program is for students in Grades 5-8. The boys' athletic program offers soccer (Fall), basketball (Winter) and lacrosse (Spring). The girls' athletic program offers field hockey (Fall), basketball (Winter) and lacrosse (Spring).

The Athletic Departments goals are: 1) To offer a program for all interested students, regardless of ability, in a safe environment; 2) To build leadership skills within the framework of team sports; 3) To encourage teamwork and competition in a positive manner; 4) To expand skills and knowledge gained from the Physical Education program and 5) To motivate students to lead active and healthy lifestyles.
