My name is Mrs. Mary Ellen Takacs. I've been teaching preschool for the past 27 years - 12 of those years at Swain. I graduated from Kutztown State College with a degree in Elementary Education and I have certification in Early Childhood/Early Intervention. I love teaching 4-year-olds because of their enthusiasm and their zest for life and learning!

Outside of school I love traveling, especially visiting National Parks. I enjoy biking, camping, reading, gardening, singing in my church choir and spending time with my friends and family (3 grown sons, a daughter-in-law and a granddaughter).

My full-day assistant is Ms. Dee Martin. Ms. Martin has worked with children in many different capacities for over 35 years. She is the mother of 3 grown sons and has 3 grandchildren. 	Our part-time assistant is Mrs. Gloria Johnson. Mrs. Johnson has worked in early childhood for many years. She is the mother of 2 sons and a daughter and has 2 grandchildren. Mrs. Johnson's favorite activity is spending time with her grandchildren!
